Image-making as an Education Tool

This past week was spent analyzing my initial research findings and making connections between my secondary resources to move forward in defining my audience. I’ve started compiling a list of questions to send out for a survey on the role of photography across different demographics to help narrow my target audience. Right now I am interested in exploring the educational qualities of photography and looked into different case studies surrounding photography in the classroom. Many of these resources took place within primary education and high schools, and this opens the opportunity to potentially co-design this project with my high school photography teacher.

Miro research highlights

Roderick Vesper is not only a talented photographer and educator, but also a personal mentor of mine. Vesper introduced me to the joys of image making when I was just a freshman in high school. While it was a digital photography class, Vesper emphasized the importance of image making of all kinds: collage, graphic, and analog techniques. His class curriculum shaped me as a present-day creative, and I would love to gain more insight from his perspective as an educator as I continue researching.
